Move it and lose it: On Thursday at 2:12 p.m., police received a report of a theft. A 42-year-old Jackson resident reported $8,000 worth of guns were missing after he had moved his belongings out of his current home to his new home. The items missing were two shotguns and an AR pistol, according to Lt. Russ Ruschill of the Jackson Police Department. Two days later, on July 2, the man said he found his guns in his friend’s truck. The friend had been helping him move.

Child’s play: On Thursday at 2:20 p.m., officers responded to a call from a child on Powderhorn Lane who said he was barricaded in his house. He told officers two boys were outside shooting Orbeez gel balls at him and wouldn’t let him out of his house. Officers arrived at the scene, notified all parents and confirmed that the 10- to 12-year-old kids were involved in a “mutual exchange” of a child’s game and counseled the parties on how to play responsibly, as well as the severity of calling the 911 line.

Sideways: On July 4 at 11:55 p.m., a 55-year-old Jackson woman was arrested for public intoxication. Witnesses observed an agitated female lying in the grass 6 feet off the sidewalk along West Snow King Avenue, near the intersection with Virginian Lane. Officers observed she was unable to stand without their help, and she was rolling from side to side trying to stand. Officers took her to the hospital before booking her for public intoxication.

No idling: On July 4 at 5:11 p.m., officers responded to a report of a gray Jeep that had been left running in front of the Cowboy Bar since 2:50 p.m. with no one inside. Officers located the vehicle, which had Washington plates, and contacted the owner of the vehicle to ensure it was turned off.

Wine DUI: On July 5 at 1:15 a.m., a 21-year-old Jackson woman was stopped for speeding. Officers observed she had watery, glassy eyes and an open container of white wine in the center console. She was arrested for DUI.

Information in the police blotter is gathered from law enforcement, county courts and sometimes radio dispatch and witnesses. Those jailed are charged, not convicted. — Eds.
